The university is assembling an international consortium of universities for EIT HEI Initiative 2024 call. This project aims to strengthen the innovation and entrepreneurship capacities of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in two major clusters: 1) Innovative Technologies Cluster (Artificial Intelligence, Cloud, Mobility, Embedded Systems) 2) Development Cluster (UI/UX Design, Mobile Technologies, Game Developers).
The university will be the coordinator. The main activities of the project are as shown below:
• Phase 1 (April 2025 - December 2025):
-Initial capacity building, creation of innovation structures, and establishing partnerships.
◦ Develop joint curricula in AI, Mobility, and UI/UX design.
◦ Start-up acceleration and mentorship programs.
◦ Set up test beds for AI and Cloud projects.
◦ Facilitate student internships and workshops.
• Phase 2 (January 2026 - April 2027):
-Expansion and scaling of innovation activities, ensuring sustainability beyond project funding.
◦ Support for start-ups.
◦ Increase cross-university knowledge sharing and market-oriented innovation.
◦ Engage public and private stakeholders in long-term innovation strategies.
For the success of the project, tentative KPIs have been defined as shown below:
Phase 1:
-Support at least 4 start-ups (mentorship, access to finance, market strategies).
-Train at least 350 students, 50 academic, and 50 non-academic staff.
-Establish at least 2 innovation structures (e.g., test centers, entrepreneurship offices).
-Create at least 2 new partnerships between universities, businesses, and other stakeholders.
2. Phase 2:
-Double the start-up support target (at least 8 start-ups).
-Increase training participation by 30% (at least).
-Establish 4 innovation structures and 4 new partnerships (at least).
-Introduce at least 1 innovation to the market or create 1 start-up generating revenue.
The consortium will be composed of 5 universities and 1 incubation center from high-low and moderate innovator countries.
